BCI: Internet Settings for Windows NT

Creating the Dialer

a) Open My computer.
b) Double click on Dial-Up Networking.
c) In the Phonebook entry to dial area make sure the BCI Internet connection is selected.
d) Click the More button. then click Edit entry and modem properties.
e) Select the Basic Tab.
f) Entry Name should be BCI Internet. Comment can be blank.
g) Phone number should be the local number you dial to connect to BCI Internet.
h) You may include the following options as applicable: A number to get an outside line, such as a comma to pause and wait for dial tone. The code to disable call waiting. Alternatively, the above settings may be set in the Dialing Properties.
i) To choose to use the dialing properties, check the Use Telephony dialing properties box.
j) Dial using should list your modem.
k) Click the Server tab to continue to review your settings.
l) The listing in the Dial-up server type dialog box should be PPP, Windows NT, Windows 95 Plus, Internet.
m) In the Network protocols section, check the TCP/IP box.
Important:
Remove any other checks in the Network protocols section.
n) Check the Enable software compression box.
o) Important: Do NOT check the Enable PPP LCP extensions box. BCI Internet does not support this feature. If PPP LCP extensions is enabled it can prevent you from connecting and /or cause frequent disconnects. Click the TCP/IP Settings button.
p) Select the Server assigned IP address box. Then, select the Specify name server addresses box.
Primary DNS: should be 209.2.141.2
Secondary DNS: should be 205.232.46.2
Check the Use IP header compression box to enable it. Also check the Use default gateway on remote network box. Click Script tab.
q) Select None After Dialing (login) box. Click the Security tab to continue
r) In the Authentication and encryption policy area, select the Accept any authentication box. Click the X.25 tab to continue.
s) In the Network dialog box, select (none). Leave all other boxes blank. Click OK.
t) Now try to connect.

Connecting

a) Open the connection window.
b) Put in your username@bci.net and password.
c) Click in the Domain area and backspace to assure no invisible characters are in there.
d) Click OK to connect.
