Directory Structure

The directory below is for FTP and WEB development customers. It is intended to be used as a primary storage area for all WEB pages and related WEB page files. Any changes made to this directory will result in changes made to homepages. This is a private directory for the user.

Keep in mind that the file that you name default.html will be the file opened when the above address is typed into a web browser.

WS-FTP Setup Instructions

a) Download WS-FTP LE from the following address:

Windows 95/98: http://tucows.syracusenet.net/ftp95.html

Windows 2000: http://tucows.syracusenet.net/win2k/ftp2k.html

Find WS-FTP LE and click on download.

NOTE: You will need to have an unzip utility, the file is in a zip format. Like Win Zip 8.1. Here is the link to download an evaluation copy: http://www.winzip.com

b) Unzip the file, and run the install program to install WS-FTP on your machine. Follow the instructions provided with the software.

c) Double click on WS-FTP.

d) Click the New button to setup a new profile. Enter the Following settings:

Under the General tab:

Profile Name: Enter the Directory Name given to you by BCI
Host Name/Address:
ftp.bci.net for Personal & Business Web Sites
ftp.YourDomain.com for Domains Hosted by Bibbens Communications.

Host Type: Automatic Detect
UserName: Enter Your FTP UserName (all lower case)
Password: Enter Your FTP Password (all lower case)
Account: Leave Blank

Under the Startup tab:

Under Initial Remote Host Directory:

  • users/yourdirectory for Personal or Business Web Pages
  • yourdirectory for Domains Hosted by Bibbens Communications

e) After you have entered the above settings click the OK button.

f) This will connect you to the BCI Web Server, and your appropriate directory. You will see your directory on the right hand side. You can now transfer files back and forth between your local hard drive, and your directory on the web server.
